NEW STUFF FROM: Steed Lord, Joakim, Felix da Housecat, Monsters of Folk, Miike Snow, NAPT, Gentlemen Thieves, Citadel, RUBIX and Deux Helix

FIRSTLY, some stuffies from RCRD LBL:

Steed Lord
Dirty Mutha (Crookers Remix)
Sick of grimy Icelandic nu-rave yet? Us neither! This is for you, glitter-soaked factions who came of age in UFOs, the candyflippers who drove us to Baltimore for the good parties.

Joakim
Love & Romance & A Special Person
For all the bones made about disco’s mutated resurgence, the stuff still makes us feel really good. And, as evidenced by the church-y pianos and ascending arpeggios in “Love & Romance & A Special Person”, Joakim is still a dude who is familiar with our endorphins.
Joakim - Love & Romance & A Special Person
Joakim

Felix Da Housecat
We All Wanna Be Prince (Grey Ghost & Deth Hertz Remix)
If Felix da Housecat has produced a track that wasn’t handled with sequin-studded kid gloves, we haven’t heard it. Shining with 80’s prom patina, “We All Wanna Be Prince” is happy, pure stuff. A slick, Chicago club blend.

Monsters of Folk
Say Please
Monsters of Folk are Conor Oberst, Jim James, M. Ward, and Mike Mogis. Their first single, “Say Please,” is as good as Coney Island and a bottle of whiskey. When the chord changes kick in, we get dizzy, reminiscing on summer festivals and second loves.
Monsters of Folk - Say Please

Miike Snow
Animal (Peter Bjorn & John Remix)
After Miike Snow reworked their single “It Don’t Move Me” a few months ago, Peter Bjorn & John return the favor with this rare remix, flipping “Animal” into an ineffably dark melange of beats and organ.

AND FINALLY, a new track from Deux Helix:
Here is our latest production titled 'Complex Nervosa' A piece of music based on the mental illness of our Universe. Many thanks for taking the time to listen.

Complex Nervosa - 320 kbps
Deux Helix - Complex Nervosa

Bio
Deux Helix is Judy and E, an act orchestrated by Existence and Creation. Two beings bonded by strands of genetic code. Conducting the greatest symphony of all, The Universe. Divulged in sinister vibrations and frequencies. Enlightened through resonance, harmony, and symmetry. In midst of an abyss of infinity, a parallel dimension of stubbornly persistent illusions. A quantum reality of intense parasomniatic hallucinations and schizophrenic psychosis. Transcending the inner synapses of the cosmos. Synthesizing the Double Helix and discovering the synchronicities of the macrocosm.

And then, some RCRD LBL stuffies:
Doves
Jetstream (Sasha’s Subsubdubdub)
Basically a 128bpm house track caught amidst an intergalactic war zone, this “subsubdubdub” is the least gaudy arena dance anthem we’ve heard in a minute, so respect to the man Sasha for that.
Doves - Jetstream (Sasha’s Subsubdubdub)
Websites: Doves MySpazz , Doves Web
More Doves music: Doves - Kingdom of Rust (Prins Thomas Diskomiks)

WHY?
This Blackest Purse
Yoni Wolf proclaimed the upcoming Eskimo Snow the least hip hop of anything he’s done. “This Blackest Purse” is WHY?’s foray down a solemn rabbit hole. Sesame Street piano bars grow introspective as WHY? asks Mom about folksy mustaches.
WHY? - This Blackest Purse

More Music: Why? - These Few Presidents , Why? - The Hollows

The Dead Weather
Treat Me Like Your Mother (Diplo Remix)
Diplo being Diplo, his remix of The Dead Weather’s “Treat Me Like Your Mother“ doesn’t fall into one genre or another, instead wiggling through different shades of the dubstep continuum while using only a few seconds of the original vocal.
The Dead Weather - Treat Me Like Your Mother (Diplo Remix)
The Deadweather Web
From the Album: Horehound

Atlas Sound
Walkabout (ft. Noah Lennox)
“Walkabout” samples The Dovers’ “What Am I Going Do To Do”, cribbing its fluttering organ riff and surrounding it with golden waves of beach ball drums. Noah Lennox’s (aka Panda Bear) pipes still sound like cherubs singing from clouds, so, uh, yea, you might wanna check this one out.

Kid Sister
Right Hand Hi
Produced by Sebastian Ingrosso and Steve Angello of the Swedish House Mafia, “Right Hand Hi” is the frenetic first single from Kid Sister’s long-awaited debut LP, Ultraviolet, due October 6.

More Music: Kid Sister - Pro Nails (Bag Raiders Remix)

The Dodos
Fables
Basically, this is the Dodos you know and love jacked up on Phil Ek’s studio steroids—in addition to a snare drum, there are double-tracked guitars, shakers, bells, and friggin’ vibraphone.
The Dodos - Fables
The Dodos Web
More Music: The Dodos - Fools

Memory Tapes
Bicycle (Horrors Cosmic Dub)
This remix from The Horrors begins like Ennio Morricone and Mike Oldfield meeting in the midnight rain and ends as a throbbing, yet surprisingly tender, club take on New Order’s “True Faith”, wandering synths tied to a compulsive arpeggio and snare drum THWACK.

Liam Frost
Your Hand In Mine (ft. Martha Wainwright)
Liam Frost needed a duet partner for “Your Hand In Mine.” Victor Van Vugt suggested his friend Martha Wainwright, sister of Rufus and daughter of Loudon, and after a few phone calls the track lying before us was born.

New Moby, MGMT, 3Oh!3, Class Actress, Vivian Girls, Yeasayer, m83

Purely RCRD LBL, we LOVE RCRD LBL, they are THE shit:

Moby
Mistake (Lifelike Remix)
Frenchie-of-the-moment Lifelike took his hand to album standout “Mistake,” begetting the Human Leaguest song we have ever heard from a dude who wears Black Flag shirts. And, if you were wondering, that is Moby singing.

We Own the Sky (Maps Mix)
“We Own The Sky” has us fantasizing. That staccato blink, that planetarium spring, that slip and slide chorus—man we hope Pitchfork sets up an enormous dome where he’ll shoegaze on Sunday under the cover of celestial explosions, star belts and chocolate milk fountains.

Pitchfork Festival
Yeasayer
Final Path
This far-out version of “Final Path” has all the percussive rumble and mushroom twang we’ve come to know and love from Yeasayer, but more, it hints at what it’s like to witness them live. Which is to say, guttural, crop circle emanations that border on religious.
Pitchfork Festival: Yeasayer - Final Path

Vivian Girls
When I’m Gone
Vivian Girls know exactly how to treat punk rock—like a doddery auld fud fresh for a tease, long legs and celestial harmonies resparking something desperate and latent in punk’s gut and groin. “When I’m Gone” is an incredible flirt; it flirts with everything, with punk, with lo-fi and with surf and rockabilly.

More Vivian Girls Songs: Vivian Girls - Tell the World , Vivian Girls - Where do you run to , Vivian Girls - Blind Spot (Daisy Chain Cover)

Class Actress
Careful What You Say
“Careful What You Say” gets its kicks from ballooning square waves much like Chairlift, only instead of grabbing for the hook Class Actress are content to float amongst their own self-created fog.
Class Actress - Careful What You Say

MGMT
Destrokk
“Destrokk,” from MGMT’s recently remastered Time To Pretend EP, is proof that before they were gallivanting around the world as festival headliners, they were just two students from Wesleyan University with huge boners for the eminently excellent proto-electro group Suicide.

My Toys Like Me - Sweetheart, Val Venosta

Cool review of My Toys Like Me

and then I received this friendly little mail containing this summery disco number from Sweden:

as we say in Sweden "Liten tuva stjälper ofta stora lass", which means that in the summer you can't just sit in your room and play with you synthesizers!

So we, Val Venosta, decide it was time to embrace our few days of sun here and create a more summerish song.
So check out "Peace and quiet is for libraries!" at our myspace, as well as the video.

‘Put Cormac McCarthy, Franz Kafka and Benny Hill together in a Brighton seaside guesthouse and they might just come up with Bunny Munro. A compulsive read possessing all Nick Cave’s trademark horror and humanity, often thinly disguised in a galloping, playful romp.’

IRVINE WELSH

‘Cocksman, Salesman, Deadman; Bunny Munro might not be Everyman, but every man ought to read this book. And read it half in stitches, half in tears, and with the same horror and the same recognition that you usually only face in the mirror on the morning after. Or maybe that’s just this man.’

DAVID PEACE

The lead singer of The Birthday Party, The Bad Seeds and Grinderman, Cave has been performing music for more than 30 years. He has collaborated with Kylie Minogue, PJ Harvey and many others. His debut novel And the Ass Saw the Angel was published in 1989.

Born in Australia, Cave now lives in Brighton.

Blitz The Ambassador
Something to Believe
We are easily wooed by horns. Not all the time, but if there is a little shuffle and some cowbell milling about, throwing a trombone or trumpet or three in as well isn’t going to hurt. Which is why this new jam from Brooklyn’s Blitz The Ambassador is getting us all excited. It has some dope horns!

Bloc Party
One More Chance (Alex Metric Remix)
Kele Okereke’s got a voice and lyrics to suit, of course, romantic neuroses never so far away from a Bloc Party track that it can’t be grappled into a neat metaphor, though this refit seems to usher away lyrical dexterity in favour of one of those famously bare-hearted Okereke refrains.

NEW Laidback Luke and Diplo, Holy Ghost, A Gun Called Tension, Netsayi, Au Revoir Simone and The Glass, ALSO some gigs and some hints....

Holy Ghost!
I Will Come Back
Holy Ghost! have been busy playing other peoples’ records around the world, completing remixes for bands like Phoenix, and working on their debut album, tentatively set for release in 2010. So as not to deprive us for too long of their work, they recently linked up with Green Label Sound to give away this new single, “I Will Come Back”.

As if we need to be convinced to check a mixtape calling itself “a journey where no musical boundaries exist!,” The Echo Bass Sessions is the newest release from A Gun Called Tension’s inscrutably awesome punk/dub/electro-whatever project. It sounds like the record collection of some dudes who listen deep and wide—which is essentially what it is.

Diplo & Laidback Luke
Hey! (Bombaman Remix)
We’ve been eyeing this collabo between Diplo and Laidback Luke for a few months now, and our pals at Dim Mak picked it up for an American release. Bombaman’s remix is the one we’re featuring today, a somehow more beleaguering flip of an already merciless tune. Surprise! There are lazers!

Au Revoir Simone
Grateful
We imagine Au Revoir Simone as three little swallows on a snow-bitten branch. “Grateful” is the soundtrack for gazing through a wintry half-moon of glass above the bed. Gauzy swirls, tulip icicles and an entire tundra lies beyond these birds, but their hypnotic call quiets us.

The Glass
Wanna Be Dancin’
This new single from The Glass coasts on its chorus; a mash of house piano, snippets of the “Woo! Yea!” sample, and its title slurred over buttermilk echo. If you play this on repeat for twenty minutes, as we just did, that title slips into your brain and all of a sudden you’re headed to the coffee maker humming “I wanna be dance...ing”.

And now for a cool track courtesy of Jez from Nile-On:

This week sees the release of soul singer Netsayi’s summery single Punch Drunk and the remix comes courtesy of Mighty Mouse, giving it the disco treatment! Last time we sent out a remix by these guys it was a dub step take on John & Jehn’s Looking For You – it just goes to show how versatile this act really are.
Punch Drunk is the first single from newly recorded album Monkey’s Wedding out later this year. A taster of things to come! Keep your eyes peeled for more remixes and a tour with Ladysmith Black Mambazo in the Autumn!
