BEFORE I carry on with this post, I would like to make a public complaint against the DMCA whom in their INFINITE wisdom and absolute arrogance take down posts that have taken DAYS to do AND only have LEGAL MP3's etc in them by claiming that they have received a complaint and have APPARENTLY sent details to me about what the offending items are. To this day I have not received a SINGLE message from them stating that x or y is a problem and please remove it, not once, yet they claim they have sent many mails to myself.....get your shit together DCMA or I will take this further legally

Brooklyn, NY – Amidst waves of richly textured melodies and driving beats rises a haunting voice intoning messages of modern hope and despair that will invade your memories. This is the sound of HOME VIDEO, Collin Ruffino and David Gross, high-school friends from New Orleans who have been collaborating since their first short video in 1997. After originally recording for electro powerhouse Warp Records, the band are self-releasing their second album, The Automatic Process, available on February 25, 2011 (physical to be releasd March 25, 2011)

Inspired early on by music from the likes of Massive Attack, Boards of Canada, Depeche Mode, and Phillip Glass, HOME VIDEO intertwine the classically-trained sensibilities of Gross with the confessional and at times existential lyrics of Ruffino. With The Automatic Process, the band layers samples, synthesizers, piano, guitar, and live drums to build an electro-tinted minimalist rock that drives steadily towards the sublime -- a spacious soundtrack evocative of a fractured dream.

Warp Records released Home Video’s first two EPs in 2004: That You Might, a 10” single that immediately picked up considerable attention in Britain from BBC Radio 1 and the NME, and Citizen EP, a five-song release that earned the band a feature in Rolling Stone. In 2006, US-based Defend Music released the band’s debut album, No Certain Night or Morning. With infectious tracks like “Sleep Sweet” and “Gas Tank”, it’s no surprise that Grammy-nominated DJ Sasha picked two songs from the album to remix for his most recent release, Involver 2, which also included songs from Thom Yorke, Apparat and M83. HOME VIDEO themselves have recently taken to the role of remixer, reworking songs for bands like Bear in Heaven, Wave Machines, Faunts, Bang Gang, and friends Naked Hearts.

HOME VIDEO produce all their music themselves, and adapt their studio creations into full-on live performances featuring a drummer and hypnotic visual projections. During Home Video’s first European tour they had the opportunity to play in London with Blonde Redhead, who later invited the band to support them for three weeks of shows in North America. Since then, HOME VIDEO have opened for such diverse acts as Justice, Yeasayer, Flying Lotus, Pinback, DJ Krush, Colder, and Radio 4. Taking advantage of Ruffino’s film education, the band has also made several of their own music videos. The band’s video for “I Can Make You Feel It” premiered on MTV2’s Subterranean, and had over 200,000 views after being featured for a week on the front page of YouTube.com.

The Automatic Process will be released Febraruy 25th, 2011 (physical to be released March 25th). Building on the band’s 2009 EP, It Will Be OK EP, expect more of their best, with key songs “The Smoke”, “An Accident”, “Every Love That Ever Was”, and the title track, “The Automatic Process”. Hey peeps, I am sorry for not posting for the past few weeks, I have left my job (under close on acrimonious circumstances) and am busy finalizing all my stuff and then I can concentrate on Deconstruction. I will be bck with a MONSTER post before the weekend. It has been an EXTREMELY eventfull few weeks.
Anyhoo, the plushie above is made by my girlfriend Renate who will soon be bringing some of Scarlets Little Friends to you. In the mean time check out Popo.Me we are collaborating with Ke Ai at 70 Juta towards the end of the month.


PLUS speaking of 70 Juta come through this weekend for the LAUNCH of this awesome new spot on the Jozi skyline. I will be playing there on Sunday making some chillness for all of you. AND there will be another launch at the beginning of next month. This is a VERY exciting space whice VERY happy to be a part of.

Tonight I will be playing at Mammas Shebeen from 8pm till around midnight, then tomorrow evening I will be at Kitchener's for Vinyl Thursday as well as on Friday night for a Dubstep set after I play my late afternoon set at Mammas. Saturday afternoon is my usual afternoon chill set at Mammas from 2pm till 8pm. and the Sunday, as mentioned, I will be at 70 Juta for the launch, laying down some more chillness for you all as you peruse the awesomness that is 70 Juta!!

Dusk Winterman is a legendary off road racer who's never lost a race ever. He only races off road. He currently drives a Jeep, which he won, from an African tribe by beating their best racer. That's how you know it’s a damn good car.

Aside from racing Dusk does two things (though they are related to his racing): face wines and gets blow jobs in neutral.

Before every race Dusk face wines: the act of having box wine poured down into your mouth from a distance, ideally a balcony. This makes sure that he's at the perfect level of greatness before he begins his great race.

During the race he's just so far ahead that he just picks up some bitty, throws the car into neutral, and gets a blow job. Not only does he still win the race, but he crosses the finish line in neutral.

He is an idol to everybody who has met him, and only races off road.

Lastly it should be noted that Dusk has never crashed and never will crash. Thus he will never turn into a Zombie, only Kavinsky does that.

Dusk Winterman, with his great stash of powers, also has a sidekick Liquid Sparks: a man who goes so fast that the sparks from his tires turn to liquid. Watch out for Liquid Sparks EP coming soon.
