Dj Loli and Loliland plus a mix, WOOOOO

Mon freund John Bourke (who's birthday it is on Friday)reccommended this for me to listen to on the plane when I fly to London, it's SOO good, I thought I'd share it with all of you:

DJ LOLI’S NEW MIX “DISCO POWDER”
Heya

This is a brand new mix by DJ Loli that she calls experimental (this will be understood by listening to her previous releases). With the Nu Disco, German techno, Electronica Punk and Techno of 1999 - 2002 , and all her favorites, she describes it as:

"The fresh new sound of 2010 created from the memories of 2000∪

This is the rock&roll version of electronic music.
The mix was ment to be released earlier but was delayed due to an accident with the turntables during the recording because of unexpected earthquake.

(Information from Loli's Twitter: " Thank you eathquake for fukking up my mix recording. My turntable fell off lol" ).

After staying up for two days straight, she gathered all music she’s loved over the years. This music she believes, is the music that needs to be resurfaced or exposed. Bringing electronic music from now, and the past (2000) she’s brought us the sound of the future, the sound that’ll be a part of this reformation of the scene.

GO LISTEN NOW.

New stuffies from Royksopp, Passion Pit, Dan Black and Miike Snow vs Peter Bjorn & John....

Everybodies favourite RCRD LBL, adore away:

Passion Pit - The Reeling (Shuttle’s Super Club Mega Mix ’99)
Ecstatically charged synths dance with ’90s house handclaps and a vocoded Michael Angelakos has visions of this bursting from between David Guetta and Eric Prydz on sunlit FM drive-time waft absurdly across your earholes.
Passion Pit - The Reeling (Shuttle’s Super Club Mega Mix ’99)
Passion Pit MySpazz

Miike Snow vs. Peter Bjorn & John - It Don’t Move Me
Miike Snow battle it out with Peter Bjorn & John’s “It Don’t Move Me,“ from the newly released Living Thing. Thrown in the bag is the trio’s usual arsenal: pools of clubby synths and their syrupy friends, all wrapped tightly around the vocal like snug winterwear.
Miike Snow vs. Peter Bjorn & John - It Don’t Move Me

Röyksopp
The Girl and The Robot (Ocelot Remix)
Robyn’s plight mirrors that of Jennifer Jones’ character in The Man In The Grey Flannel Suit. I guess this is the 2009 version. English producer Ocelot has since stepped into Röyksopp’s comfort space, parsing out this arpeggio-dabbling version of the track for people to throttle their bodies to.
Röyksopp - The Girl and The Robot (Ocelot Remix)
Royksopp Web, Royksopp MySpazz

Dan Black
Symphonies (Passion Pit Remix)
Purging the song of obvious melancholy, Passion Pit proceed to lead Black on a bassland tour; placing his vocal delicately atop baile funk, triumphant house, dubstep lurk and drum‘n’bass clatter.
Dan Black - Symphonies (Passion Pit Remix)

YAAAAY, so its almost only a week till I jet off again to that cold rainy Island that has Camden Town on it, as well as having Basildon, and to the Gods of Basildon I pray that their favourite sons do not canceltheir London show....PLEAAAAASSSSSE

Sally Shapiro, Lady Sovereign and the SPECIAL 1

Sally Shapiro - Miracle
Sally Shapiro has returned with a new record of original tracks and a gushing new single called “Miracle,” which, to us, is the sound of nightclubbing in gumdrop land.
Sally Shapiro - Miracle
Sally Shapiro
More: Sally Shapiro - Jackie Junior (Junior Boys Remix) , Sally Shapiro - Time to let go (Lindstrom Remix)

Lady Sovereign - Pennies (Kill The Noise Remix)
From Kill The Noise himself, this track is “one part british female MC, one part 808 dirty south drum programming, and one part heavy guitar processing.” But however you add it up, it’s 100% great.
Lady Sovereign - Pennies (Kill The Noise Remix)
Lady Sovereign
More: Lady Sovereign - I Got You Dancing (Medasyn Dub Remix) ,

And then, another hilarious episode of the SPECIAL 1 TV!!!!!!:

MAdlib, White Rose Movement, Crystal Method, Yeah Yeah Yeah's, Tv on the Radio!!

Although inventive and adventurous, “Lifetime (Lifeline)” is one of those cuts that’s more familiar—soul samples are cut and rewired, as percussive ephemera floats somewhere above that lax snare swing that’s become his and J Dilla’s trademark.
Madlib - Lifetime (Lifeline)
Madlib MySpazz , From the Album:

STREAM: TV On The Radio - Shout Me Out (Willie Isz Remix By Jneiro Jarel)
For this remix, producer/remixer Jneiro Jarel has flooded the originally jazzy track with hand claps, probing bass, woozy electric violin, and gauzy synths—creating a lush and danceable Animal Collective-meets-supernatural-sci-fi vibe.
STREAM: TV On The Radio - Shout Me Out (Willie Isz Remix By Jneiro Jarel)
Tv on the Radio

The Crystal Method - Slipstream (ft Jason Lytle)
“Slipstream,” in which Grandaddy frontman Jason Lytle lent his vocals, is echoing, sun-flecked electronica, as appropriate for burning rubber on an empty freeway as it is for close-up body slides on the dance floor.
The Crystal Method - Slipstream (ft. Jason Lytle)
The Crystal Method , From the Album: Divided By Night

Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Zero (RAC Remix)
Our friends at the the Remix Artists Collective understand that the best of “Zero” is the hook, and their late arrival to the party puts Karen front and center, gliding over some added synth arpeggios like a phoenix born from leather.
Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Zero (RAC Remix)
Yeah Yeah Yeahs , The Remix Company , From the Album: It’s Blitz

Just loads of N.A.S.A. tunes on their way out recently, last week I sent Designer Drugs’ workout of ‘Strange Enough’, and now I have a couple more fab ones. Steve Aoki has remixed the arguably stand out track on the album ‘Gifted’, and the guys put together a 5 minute minimix for BBC Radio 1’s Annie Mac Mash up session; 57 songs crammed in to 300 seconds including some N.A.S.A. home brand tunes amongst the likes of Bruce Springsteen, Justice, and George Kranz.

Gary is a Robot, Au Revoir Simone, Dinosaur Jr., Lia Ices etc

My inbox has been filling up again, first up from Om Records:

A few short months after the release of the long-anticipated new Zion I record, Bay Area producer and remix mastermind AmpLive is set to unveil the inaugural record on new Om Records imprint, Child’s Play. Merging the sounds of hip hop, electro, disco, d&b and dubstep, the new brand within the Om family is a fitting home for Murder at the Discotec- AmpLive’s latest soiree into gritty electro and dancefloor-ready anthems, due in early Fall.

When Amp told us he wanted to make an electro album, we were all like, “Huh? For real? Wtf.” Well naysayers like us be damned, because the first single from the record, “Gary is a Robot,” is a synth-hop banger featuring the Bay’s own Trackademicks of Fools Gold fame & Micro Jaxson. Meanwhile, the B-side, “Get Served,” features Freestyle Fellowship legend Mykah Nyne, ginned up by unadulterated dub step production.

The single is out May 12th, but if you can’t wait til then, Turntable Lab has your exclusive pre-release download.

And then from Jez at Nile-On:

Well, the most fucked up bizarre thing just happened, I opened the mail and it looked to be a stormer of a track BUT the freaking thing has just disappeared into the ether, I have asked them to resend, it looked great, so I will endeavour to get it for you again as well as anything else they might have! Apologies for the inconvenience!!!!

And now what would a post of mine be without some tracks from RCRD LBL?:

This remixed “Shadows” track churns out maze-like layers of wonky ambient textures, meshing analog synth, clock like ticks, and deep bass.
Au Revoir Simone - Shadows (It’s A Fine Line Remix)

True story: when we turned “I Want You To Know” on this morning, J. Mascis’ thick fist of fuzz came out of the speakers and used our eardrums as speed bags—Neil Young-ish chords smeared in amp waste, slacker hero mumbling, the rest of the band fighting to be heard through the walls of guitars.
Dinosaur Jr. - I Want You To Know
Dinosaur Jr. Web , From the album: Farm

Lia Ices is a rising singer/songwriter from Brooklyn, NY, who released a criminally overlooked LP, Necima, late last year. “You Will” stems from that record, a soft ballad that hangs on floating piano chords, Lia’s arching voice, and sporadic clarinet.
Lia Ices - You Will

Depeche Mode REMIX Competition

04.28.2009

From April 28 to May 26, 2009, Depeche Mode is inviting all budding DJs and aspiring producers out there to remix the band's single 'Peace', taken from their new album 'Sounds of the Universe'. The winning remix will be released on Beatport.com through Mute Records. The grand prize winner will also win a Jazzmutant Lemur multitouch controller, Native Instrument's Maschine groove production studio, a Pacemaker portable DJ system, V-Moda headphones and a $250 Beatport gift card.

Beatport

If it wasn’t for Depeche Mode, electronic music might be very different. The English group’s innovation in the studio, particularly with their use of samplers, has influenced electronic music in uncountable ways.

The three pioneers of techno - Derrick May, Kevin Saunderson and Juan Atkins, regularly cited Depeche Mode as an influence when they were experimenting with Detroit techno in the mid 1980s, and Depeche Mode are often named by today’s leading DJs and electronic music artists as key influencers.

No other band of their stature has commissioned so many dance music producers to remix their work. The list so far includes Danny Tenaglia, Sasha, UNKLE, Paul van Dyk, Ricardo Villalobos, Booka Shade, Kruder & Dorfmeister, Michael Mayer, Rex The Dog, Ewan Pearson, Plastikman, Speedy J, Orbital, Blackstrobe, Underworld and Boys Noize.

The band’s connection to electronic music is more than just influence, it helped to give it a beating heart. That makes a Depeche Mode remix contest something special, and for the first time ever, the band have agreed to let the public remix one of their songs officially.

Beatport is honoured to bring this unique opportunity to the electronic music community.

INTRODUCING MACHETTE JACOBITE, PLUS new George Lenton, Krazy Baldhead, Capracara, Miss Kittin & the HAcker etc

SOOOO my peeps, I have been away as you know and I have let music pile up in my in-box, mad mad mad, this is nowhere near what is sitting there, but in the interests of expediency and your good selves I have started wading through it all and here is some of it, in case you were wondering, I am about to move house and there is MUCHOS else going on in my life at the moment...healing and learning....Love comes to those who are patient and listen, who understand and let go....it comes back tenfold:

I am VERY happy to introduce to you a NEW band/project from 2 extremely talented Gauteng individuals, their identities remain a secret as all will be revealed SOOOON, in the mean time, here’s some LOVE for you from Machette Jacobite:

comprised of two artists from two different Gauteng electronic bands, they have merged to create a nu nufangled circuit bent etc, a noise based project called Machette Jacobite... for now, this is all you need to know."

love Machette Jacobite
Machette Jacobite – Left Difficulty

And something NEW from George Lenton as well as some of his musings on life the universe and everything, interesting stuff:

“how do, hope this mail finds you allllll good.

this track is dubstep, kind of grimey-ish dubstep i guess. Finished it off the other day, thought i might as well send it out.

heres a download link ;

Beware promo ;

George Lenton – Beware (Promo)

aaaand heres a video link ;

Beware vid ;

Beware Vid

(although the vid'l be shit quality for a couple of days, i dunno why it does that....lame)

so theres the beat, have a gander, would be cool to hear what you think :)

ive also (nothing to do with music... if your in a rush just grab the download an sack this off....) been thinking how toss my education was this week. Dunno how anyone over in the US or else where feels... the uk was pretty weak though! Ive read a little about marx and some of his work over the last few days, the guy was actually quite on it. although of course we're taught that communism is wrong based on countrys such as china and russia, which arnt even communist....

also, this short vid's pretty wicked ;

Philosophy courtesy of George

its some thought train thing by one of the main dude's plato. and its quite interesting, took me a few minutes to get my head round, but once you relate it to other, current stuff, its quite good.

so yeh, philosophy and dubstep, thats what the school's should be teaching us!! not fucking tectonic plates, pfft!

anyhow, i hope everyone pesterd by this mail is good, any blog postage is very welcome.

peace

x”

And then, here’s something new for you from Nile-On, Krazy Baldhead:

Then some stuffies from RCRDLBL:

Capracara - King Of The Witches (Age of Steam Edit)
The cats at DFA have a monster new record out from Capracara. “King Of The Witches” doesn’t categorize easily—there’s disco’s familiar swing, early house’s primitivity, techno’s latent mechanics—but it does fall under the umbrella of “jam we will bump all summer long.”
Capracara MySpazz

Miss Kittin & The Hacker - Electronic City
“Electronic City” is from the French pair’s new LP, Two. We’re not sure if this is really an ode to the Cybotron’s “Techno City,” but because it also packs some droopy programming and vogueish keys we are going to assume it is and play it LOUD.
Miss Kittin & The Hacker MySpazz, From the Album: Two
